Defibrillation has to occur as soon as possible!. During ventricular fibrillation the heart has no pumpfunction, and if not stopped, the brain will start to die within minutes.

Op het ECG kan je zien dat het ECG apparaat de defibrillatie-schock registreert. Daarna moet hij de basislijn opnieuw 'vinden'. Vandaar dat alle afleidingen even uit het lood liggen. Zoals je ziet is er nu weer sprake van sinusritme. De defibrillatie is geslaagd!

Halverwege bovenstaande registratie lijkt er ook iets te gebeuren, waarschijnlijk worden hier de defibrillatie-paddles op de patient gezet, waardoor de ECG electrodes wat bewegen en er ook een basislijnzwaai optreedt.
